The NHS will pay for an eye exam at home if an individual is-
A) Unable to attend a community opticians practice unaccompanied due to a mental or physical condition (even if it is temporary)
AND
B) Meets one or more of the following criteria-
The patient is-
- Aged 60 or over
- Under 16, or under 19 and in full time education
- Diagnosed with diabetes or glaucoma
- Aged 40 or over, with a direct relative diagnosed with glaucoma
- Considered by an ophthalmologist to be at risk of glaucoma
- Registered blind or partially sighted
- Prescribed complex lenses under the NHS optical voucher scheme
The patient OR their partner receive-
- Income Support
- Named on a HC2/3 certificate for full/partial help with health costs
- Pension Credit Guarantee Credit
- Income Based Jobseekers Allowance
- Working Tax Credit or Child Tax Credit and named on a valid NHS Tax Credit Exemption Certificate

Patients may be entitled to a NHS voucher towards the cost of their spectacles if they are any of the following:
The patient is-
- Under 16, or under 19 and in full time education
- Prescribed complex lenses under the NHS optical voucher scheme
The patient OR their partner receive-
- Income Support or Pension Credit Guarantee Credit
- Income Based Jobseekers Allowance
- Tax Credit and named on a valid NHS Tax Credit Exemption Certificate
- Named on a valid HC2/HC3 certificate for full/partial help towards the cost of glasses
All our staff wear a prominent identity badge. We have all passed the CRB (Criminal Record Bureau) check and the company is registered with your local Primary Care Trust. We have lots of experience working with people in their own homes and we promise to deliver our service with respect and due care to your home and belongings.

We can also supply and fit spectacles from a large range of frames and lenses from the comfort of your own home.
Information - we keep records of our information about you as a mixture of paper and/or computer records. Everyone in the practice is aware of the confidential nature of these records and will only use or release this information in accordance with the law.
You will need to provide us with your consent if you wish us to pass your information to another optometrist. If you are an NHS patient, the NHS may ask to see the portion of your record that relates to NHS services provided.
Such information will only be given to the NHS in strictest confidence. You are entitled to a copy of your records, although there may be an administrative charge. If you wish to see your records, please ask us and we will respond as quickly as possible and in any case are required to do so within 40 days.

We normally ask to allow 10 working days from the day of placing the order to your glasses being ready for delivery. If the prescription is complicated then it can take a bit longer, however if there are any unforeseen delays we will keep you updated so that you are always aware of the progress.
